Find a comfortable seating position and, with palms up, lay your right hand into your left and then gently into your lap. Now close your eyes and breathe normally.

Put your attention to your jaw and facial muscles and give yourself a moment to release any tension, to loosen these muscles and your jaw.

Now slowly roll your shoulders up to your ears and then to the back and down. Repeat it once more, roll them up to the ears and down to your back. Slowly rolling up to the ears and rolling down to the back.

Turn your head slowly to left shoulder, not creating any hurt or uneasiness, and turn it slowly all the way to your right shoulder. Once more to the left and to the right and one last time to the left, to the right, coming back to the front.

Now imagine there is a string attached to the top of your head, at your crown, and I am slowly and carefully pulling it up. Your spine straightens, your neck and head straighten, you lift your chin just a little, and you give yourself room in your chest.

Leave your eyes closed, and on the count of three, exhale through your nose, long and purposefully. 1-2-3, exhale everything out through your nose. Now through your nose, inhale first into your lower belly, let the breath rise up slowly to your chest and then let the breath continue to your throat, hold your breath, try to take in a little more air, and with a long sigh, from your throat to your belly, let it all out. We will do this two more times. Take a deep and full breath in, into your belly, all the way up into your chest, into your throat, feel all your body expanding and hold it. Now, on the count of three, let go of any tension you might feel. 1-2-3, breathe out with a sigh and let it all go. One more time, slowly, deeply, purposefully and to the count of ten. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10. Hold it and imagine how you are expanding and opening. Hold it. Hold it. And now let it all out. Breathe normally.

In your mind’s eye, visualize, create, see yourself standing on the top of a hill, looking down into a valley. With the sun above you, you feel the warmth on your head, in your neck and on your shoulders, travelling down your spine.

Shimmering in the sun, you see the greens and the yellows, the whites and the purples. You start to walk down, slowly, just taking in what is around you. Your hands slide over the grass, the herbs and flowers, and you notice the tingling sensation it gives you. While you continue to walk, you recognize that the grass, the herbs, the flowers are growing tall, taller than you. You don’t question, you don’t fall tense or feel afraid, having the knowing that every step you take will eventually take you to the clearing meant for you. And so you continue to walk, until you step out and stand still.

You are standing at the cliffs, with vast, lush, nurturing green around you. The sight seems endless. You feel the softness under your feet, the tender wind on your skin, the sweetness on your tongue, the ocean sounds in your ears. You are not afraid of heights and while you look down the cliffs, you see the rocks, the stones, the sand, the natural rhythm of the back and forth of the waves.

Knowing it is time, you slowly turn around and doing so, you see a person standing in the distance, a person looking just like you. You stand still, keeping your distance, just observing. You don’t feel fearful or uncertain, threatened or overwhelmed. The other person looks at you, smiling and with a small nod, you allow him to walk towards you until you stand so close to each other, that you can feel his warmth. The warmth travels from the front of you around you, wrapping you gently in. You know the other person is you, and you know that it doesn’t matter if this is the you who was or will be, as long as it is the you, you need to be part of in the here and now. And you sink into this feeling of having found something precious you lost at one point and with letting your shoulders loose, a deep breath in and out gives the release. You embrace each other, holding each other strongly and long.

You release the embrace, while your hands find their way to each other, and you ask: “What am I supposed to do?” The other you keeps his hand in yours, turns around and starts walking. Never letting go and without any exhaustion, you follow his lead, and you walk up the hill, higher and higher and higher, grateful for every step you take.

You come to a halt on a ledge, high up above the clouds. Hand in hand you stand next to each other, and suddenly you think: “I have come a long way, I should acknowledge where I have reached. I have clouded my vision, my feelings and thoughts with these of others and lost sight of myself.” With this thought building up within you, your second you asks you: “Do you trust me?” And you take a deep breath in, hold your breath, and you breathe out the doubt, the distrust in yourself, the worries. You breathe in the strength of trust in yourself, hold it, and you breathe out the doubt, the distrust in yourself and the worries others have given you. You breathe in the strength of trust in yourself, hold it, and you breathe out all that is holding you back from being yourself.

Your second you asks you: “Do you trust me?” And you answer: “Yes”. And with this, he squeezes your hand, takes a step forward and head first, you fall. You fall through layers, layers of space, of warmth of wind until you dive deep into the water.

You ascend from it as a whole, complete, finding your footing at the beach, just below where you met.

You look out to the ocean, and he says: “You touch the universe, and you are standing tall on this ground. All you need is here; all you need is within you.” And without a further saying, you turn to the rocks, climb them up hand in hand, steady and purposeful. When you reach the spot you have met, you lay in each other arms with your eyes closed. And it is the same feeling from before that overcomes you: The tingling on your arms, your shoulders, your back, this feeling of release. Full release.

I am happy you are here for this grounding visualisation meditation. Before we start, let me remind you that we are all individuals and that anything you create, visualize, imagine and see in your mind’s eye has its own power, its own eligibility, and we should not judge it, don’t regulate it at any time.

If I talk about a room, and you see a hut, let it be a hut. If I talk about silver stars, but yours are golden, let it be golden. Whatever comes up, just let it happen, let it be, there is no right or wrong, each meditation is a very personal journey.

Be barefoot and find a place where you can stand and have an arm’s length into all directions. Once you found your spot, relax, close your eyes and breathe normally. Put your attention to your feet and put them hip-wide apart, move them until you find the most comfortable distance apart. Let your attention travel upwards to your hips, let them slowly but consciously circle until you feel they are in its right position. Continue upwards, straighten your spine, bring your shoulder blades a little closer, allow your chest to stretch forward.

Now slowly roll your shoulders up to your ears and then to the back and down. Repeat it once more, roll them up to the ears and down to your back. Slowly rolling up to the ears and rolling down to the back.

Turn your head slowly to your left shoulder, not creating any hurt or uneasiness, and turn it slowly all the way to your right shoulder. Once more to the left and to the right and one last time to the left, to the right, coming back to the front.

Now through your nose, inhale first into your lower belly, let the breath rise up slowly to your chest and then let the breath continue to your throat, hold your breath, try to take in a little more air, and with a long sigh, from your throat to your belly, let it all out. We will do this two more times. Take a deep and full breath in, into your belly, all the way up into your chest, into your throat, feel all your body expanding and hold it. Now, on the count of three, let go of any tension you might feel. 1-2-3, breathe out with a sigh and let it all go. One more time, slowly, deeply, purposefully and to the count of ten. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10. Hold it and imagine how you are expanding and opening. Hold it. Hold it. And now let it all out. Breathe normally. Become aware of your feet again, raise, spread and lower your toes, move your feet just a little, move them slowly, become aware of the surface, the feel, the temperature. Stand on your toes, unroll, give yourself over. Slow your movements down until you become still again.

In your mind’s eye, imagine you are standing in a white room, in the very middle of your room. It is your safe space, no other than you can come here, it is the place you go to when you want to reconnect to self.

You are standing here, fully aware of yourself, holding the intention: “I am here, rooted to my inner strength. I am here, supported by the universe. I am here, I am safe.”

And with this, imagine how the sole of your feet lighten with millions of white and silver fine dust like stars and how they effortlessly enter the ground below you, forming a stream of light that goes deeper and deeper into the earth. Deeper and deeper.

This is you; this is your energy. Now imagine the centre of the earth with a disk that shines brightly. You know that this disk was and will always be there, as it holds all life force for all and everything to exist on this earth. Like a magnet, this earth disk draws in your stream of light, waiting for the two of you to connect strongly. The moment of connection, is the moment the forces are joined, is the moment the earth is sending its life force light back up your stream of light. And it travels back up in speed, reaching the sole of your feet and entering your feet like a pool of moving stars. The light continues to fill up your body and at any place it feels resistance or sees darkness, it pushes through and dissolves these entirely. Don’t rush through, take all the time you need, let the light enter every cell of your body, let it travel up and fill your body. Let the light enter every cell of your body, allow it to travel up and to fill your body. Allow it to bring you vitality and strength, allow it to fill you with confidence, abundance, growth and love. Vitality, strength, confidence, abundance, growth, love.

Now imagine how the crown of your head lightens and all within you, your energy and the energy of the earth forms a stream of light going up and up into the sky, through the clouds, up and up into the blue and the seemingly infiniteness of the universe. You stand tall and strong, awaiting to connect to the last energy source. And with that, the stream comes back into your site, carrying a new universal light. It travels fast and enters your body through your crown, and then you feel it – You feel the sensation of these three energies uniting like waves melding like passionate lovers, forming a whole, becoming one.

And you lay your head back into your neck, pull your shoulders back and raise your chest. You reach out your arms to your sides, stretch your fingers, you want to embrace and give yourself over to the waves and the tingling sensations in your body for being filled with energy. Deeply breathe in through your nose, hold and breathe out through your nose. Deeply breathe in through your nose, hold and breathe out through your nose. “I am here, rooted to my inner strength. I am here, supported by the universe. I am here, I am safe.”

Wherever we look, whatever we read or hear, we are suggested to meditate. Less stress, anxiety, aggression, better focus, mood, self-compassion, mindfulness and other benefits.

Still, many of us hesitate or don’t stick to it because of various reasons. Discouraging and doubtful are certainly public media and people who prefer to put their focus on signalising that people lack benefits or do not belong or are not worthy of a certain a lifestyle, leaving people overwhelmed and paralysed. All the more it is important to say that we are all unique and each one of us shall have the opportunity to find just the right tool for our very own need, whatever it may be.

My own meditation practice has been irregular in the past, often interrupted by travelling, lack of comfort in foreign spaces, seemingly limited time, but often, I admit, because I was treating it with high seriousness and perfection. What helped me to put things into a new perspective, was not only a profound change in my working environment, but a training I was doing on “Meditation for Manifestation”. Before the real practice started, the teacher created an easy, joyful meditation flow, while clarifying some myths many of us keep believing. “You have to sit cross-legged, totally still and quiet in a room for hours and maybe even chant.” Oh, yes, I know this one, and I still tense up when it comes to chanting in public! But the truth is, done loud it is actually really nice, very freeing, but if you don’t like the attention, do it in your head and sometimes for me, it turns into a quiet hum.

You also don’t have to sit cross-legged, not at all, you need to feel comfortable, that’s the most important. I emphasise having the feet on the ground, especially when you start to meditate, as it will help to visualise the grounding. But once you are in a routine, the visualisation will surely work in any position.

You can move! It hurts, it is uncomfortable, it is itchy, take care of it! With your mind/body sending messages back and forward at all times, none of them will stop bothering you until you fix your itch darling.

The quiet place, that’s a big one. From my experience, I can say, starting to meditate in a quiet and comfortable place is very beneficial to start. Once you are more advanced, you will recognise that it will be easier for you to “zone out” at different places and with different sounds around you. 

What we shall honour as well, are the “in-between” meditations you can do – Taking a few minutes of conscious breath in the restroom, or a meditative walk around the block before a meeting or presentation, family gathering or visit. It is not about time; it is about a regular practice.

Who hasn’t heard: “Meditation is being in total Zen, it is about getting your mind to stop thinking.” Okay, yes. No. What we shall understand first, is the actual intention we are having. We don’t want to disconnect, we want to be present. And being present means, allowing all our thoughts and emotions and sensations to come and then, to start to work with them. We want to find the answers to our questions, we want to understand ourselves, dissolve what is holding us back, break through and leave behind what is limiting us, we simply want to clear, clean and sharpen our system to gain clarity, be motivated, inspired, be aligned.

If you look at your life, are you Zen at all times? I am certainly not, and this is what shows when I meditate. Sometimes it is very smooth and calm and loving, sometimes it is fast and bumpy and cloudy and demanding. Just as life. And the more we work on ourselves, the more we raise our awareness on all possible facets of our life and being and this is very enriching for us as a person, as well as the collective.

The bottom line of this is – Make yourself comfortable and give yourself time. Honour yourself and the ones around you. Come undone with myths that are built up and find your very own place and intention. And enjoy it, in all facets.

It doesn’t matter if you are starting a new venture or project, a relationship, friendship or parenthood, taking a loan or making an investment, going on an educational or travelling journey – In the moment of contentedness and clarity, without judgement, but with sincerity and integrity, take a sheet of paper and write down who you are. Write down what you believe in, what you learned, write down what you want to feel and hear and taste and smell. The touch you want to experience, the milestones you want to reach, the dream you want to live. And with all certainty, there will come the day, that you will have to take out this sheet of paper, to find the answer to the question you will have, the decision you will have to take.”

I have been there, I needed to take out this one sheet of paper more than once and more than once I understood the importance of a strong foundation. Whatever you do, wherever you are, there will be challenges.

The external expectations, the multitude of choices, economic, political, health and social changes and challenges. I personally remember the moment I started to listen to other people’s aspirations, their voices becoming louder, the moment I soaked up all possible choices, creating my own drowning pool, leaving me feeling paralysed.

The moment I was susceptive or receptive to all this, was the moment I was the weakest, was the moment I lost sight of myself.

I can have all, be whoever and do whatever I wish, if I have an unalterable foundation that will keep me safe and standing, whatever might occur. And this is the same I wish for you, this is what I want to support you in – A strong foundation, appreciation of your abilities, celebrating achievements as a confirmation on who you are.

I am happy to share with you the return to basics, to build newly or reshape foundations, to allow new perspectives or to just be reminded and always to enjoy.
